Hi Ben,
We met one day (3 weeks ago?) at KGNU. We didn't get a chance to talk, but I'm a musician with a Korg Wavestation SR, an Akai S2000, various mixers, MIDI controllers, routers etc., and sequencing/recording software running on a Windows machine, and a Powermac. Shall we talk sometime?

Hi Ben! Thanks for including me in this email distribution. It's great to catch up musically. Let me know if you're ever playing in NY. I'd love to come see you, but I don't get back to Denver much these days. Keep it up! Cheers, Willa

Hi Ben, hope all is well. Looks like things are going well for you. Congrats to you and Paul for the Roger Bobo award! Honestly, I don't know who he is but I'm sure he's important in your business. Next time I'm in town, I'd love to hear you play. JC

Hey Benny, remember the beautiful ballad by Hoagy Carmichael entitled "Stardust"?Envision this: The band is playing along, and suddenly, one of it's members gets lost on the form. All of a sudden, like a steely ice coated knife tainted with arsenic, comes an obnoxious (For now, I'll call it a bellow from down under for such a noise has yet to be classified) " YERR F----ng UP THE TEEEWWWWNNNNNN".Shortly thereafter, the whole group (except for the 'bellower' of the remark who was getting more agitated by the moment) becomes engrossed in laughter to the point that the tune was messed up, indeed! ALAS!! The saga...a new era only known to a select few, was borne unto us. THE AOA REJECTS!!!

The maillady just delivered the Area 51 CD to my little home out in the woods of Michigan. Now I feel connected to the larger universe.
You can hear these guys listening to each other, and letting their fingers do the talking. It’s exciting…and interesting. They get you, and you think you’ve got it. Then they draw you on to something else, and you’re still there. And you keep going with them. Damn! That’s good. The Coltrane piece is fine, but their own compositions are finest. Luxuriate over Blues in Flat 9 and, yum, Alternate Reality.
This album is a fine treat of musicianship, mind, and soul.
Now, in the interests of full disclosure, I am Ben's dad. But never mind the blood. My dad's a musician too. I'm not. I just love the good stuff. I've been up close with Coltrane, Donald Byrd, Slide Hampton, Brubeck...and been tripped out with Santana, Jefferson Airplane/Starship.... Eric Satie, Gorecki. I just like to say good things about sounds and people I like. I know I'm responsible for my words. I'll put it on the line: These guys will give you great heart-mind music with skill. It will jangle your corpuscles -- and maybe even your gonads.

Soul, Do you ever sleep? I mean, husband, brother, son, daddy-o, drummer, producer, thinker of thoughts that reside outside the box, AND president and CEO?
Thanks for all the great bloopin' bleep-whops and other sonic tesoros. (And thanks for the photo op! I guess that's my 15 minutes of fame.)
Big hug out to ya.
