Ben, in a mad attempt to share his music with the fans, has uploaded additions to the following music sections: Lost Lullaby (cdbaby.com/makinen); Fishleather Jacket (cdbaby.com/tball); and the eagerly anticipated CD The Goliath Beetle And The Ladybug Jam.
Label executives are seeking a restraining order against Makinen for allowing his own music out into the public. When reached for comment Makinen, entrenched in loop mixing, said, "Let the )(^$#!@#$s weep!!!"

Tom Ball, a freelance low brass artist in the Denver Colorado area, has
released an independent jazz euphonium CD project titled:
tom ball quartet fishleather jacket
Mr. Ball plays euphonium and conch shells, composed all songs, and
produced the project in conjunction with drummer Ben Makinen.
Musicians on CD include Ball, Makinen, Eric Thorin-bass, and Vlad
Girshevich-piano.
The group recently performed at the Rocky Mountain Region International
Tuba and Euphonium Conference in Greeley Colorado on April 8th.

Fishleather Jacket Finally Surfaces!

Ben Makinen and Tom Ball have completed production on Fishleather Jacket, the freshman CD by the Tom Ball Quartet. The CD will be for sale at cdbaby.com by next week.The quartet will be performing at the Rocky Mountain International Tuba and Euphonium Conference for UNC in Greely, Co.

Makinen To Produce Jazz Record For Tom Ball

Ben Makinen is producing Tom Ball's jazz euphonium album.
Their rehersal took place today at the Denver Musicians Assoc. coinciding with Ben's birthday.
The quartet includes Eric Thorin on bass - from AREA 15 - and the brilliant pianist from Russia Vlad Girshevich.
They will be recording at NFA studios tomorrow March 15.

"Good Soil, Eh?" is written and performed by Makinen.

Both Makinen and Cabe are CdBaby artists who attended last Februrary's DIY convention in LA. There they met Gilli Moon and learned of her Songsalive! non-profit for singer/songwriters of the world. There they also discovered sonicbids.com and quickly became members, built their EPKs, and are now realizing the benefits.
Makinen has just had another of his songs accepted into the playlist of streetblast.com. "The Goliath Beetle Meets The Ladybug" will be in rotation on the Dangerous Technology segment of streetblast.com's daily broadcast. The acceptance came from a submission made through sonicbids.com.

Lionel Young and I Rocked the house last night at Sambuca... We even had the surprise-birthday-girl-in-the-house-comes-on-stage-to-shake-the-tamborine-while-her-giggly-girlfriends-dance-crazy!
It was nice speaking with the percussionist from Indiana Univ. who now lives in New Mexico - thanks for your kind words!
A big thank you to Mollie (and her friend) with the Colorado Tourism Office for the drink and conversation! Let's get more people checkin' out the cool live music in Colorado...
As always, hats off to Sambuca's superb staff... Zach spinning the serious drink behind the bar... Marissa saved her tips and is off to Africa for a couple of weeks... and Rudy has his duties expanded to include that of sound man, "Oh! So that's what feedback is!" You all make it fun to perform there...see ya soon.

An idea fest that reinvigorated my drive and helped to re-focus my priorities and marketing techniques.
As soon as I finish organizing my notes, thank you's, etc... I'll try to post the most importaint things I absorbed. Obviously, the most importaint is: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND USE YOUR HEART AND YOUR MIND TO LIVE YOUR DREAM! And surround yourself with like minded people: you must stay clear of those who drag you down!
